"Fist my bump" will be the rally cry of a generation. Mark my words.

Actual Review

In Theatres Seen on 70mm at the Hollywood in Portland.

Am I mistaken, or was this slated to release last year? Either way, I've been anticipating this one since early last year, and I made sure to only watch the one trailer released back in June. And of course I had to see it in glorious 70mm film!! And thank goodness I did.

The real star of this film is the phenomenal Greig Fraser... one of the top five cinematographers of this generation. There are some shots in this film that will linger in my mind... and make their way into my thoughts for years to come. Not only the singular shots, but the grand scope of the universe as seen through Fraser's lens is ethereal.

To make me care about a puppet rock... and cry three times for said rock-thing... is a marvel and a job well done. Not only bringing Rocky to life, but also for fleshing out a character way better than most films do with their character development.

And Ryan Gosling is gregarious in the most charming of ways. But he also gets to act with his face a ton, and he's proving he might be one of the best. What wasn't apparent to a lot of film viewers was that all the 'flashbacks' were Grace getting his memories back, and the way the film and Gosling did it was exemplary.

I can't wait to see it again in Liemax and then read the book cover to cover!!!
