Ballerina (2025)

There was a BIG reason John Wick became the phenomenon it did: superior writing and storytelling... All of which this film lacks.

And it's sad, because Ana de Armas deserves better for the effort she put forth into making this a decent action flick. But when the writing and the world-building fail, there is no chance for the audience to care about anyone or anything the storytellers are trying to express.

And while the action was fun, it's apparent each and every move is coming. Like an amateur bartender counting to four as they pour a spirit, the audience can almost see the actors counting beats before a big action move. Nothing stalls the credibility of an action film more than telegraphed action... another reason the Wick franchise was so successful.

I wish better for Ana and female-led action films overall.
